Introduction
The purpose of the workshop was to bring together the state’s public sector scientists and agency leaders who work towards developing and deploying energy and resource recovery technologies for organic waste materials.
The workshop consisted of:
- An overview panel presentation entitled: Beyond Organic Waste in Washington State: Carbon, Nutrients, Joules and Jobs
- A poster session of state funded research projects on organic waste to energy / resource technologies entitled: Where are we now?
- A technology commercialization panel entitled: How do we get from Here to There
- A discussion session on what the state can do to expedite the development and deployment of beyond waste technology in Washington State.
Interagency collaborators on the workshop planning committee include the Washington State Department of Agriculture, the Washington State Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development, and the WSU Extension Energy Program.
